APRIL

April came to Dove Hill November 14, 2004 being 495 lb. with a pus sac on her upper thigh under her tail. Dr. David Malone surgically launched the puss filled sac and we started her on antibiotics with antibiotic flush. But April was not out of the woods. She had been so starved that she was consuming her own poop. Within a week and a half, April started to have a severe colic. Since Code Enforcement had forced Ms. Morrissette to remove her travel trail from the property, Ms. Morrissette slept in her truck for four days only obtaining a total of 10 to 12 hours of sleep in order to save April. April is now still at Dove Hill under an aggressive weight gaining program. Dove Hill believes that it will take April one year to gain all the weight back. April is also going blind in the left eye. April will not go up for adoption until she is 100% healthy.

As of 3/14/2005 she is up to 1033lbs.
