Cindy

Cindy, a 7 yr. old Bay Rocky Mountain Gated mare with a vaginal/rectal tear and was very skittish, was donated to Dove Hill in December of 2003.  Apparently, Cindy came from an auction purchase by a horse reseller.  This reseller tried to have Cindy repaired but she kept tearing so he was forced to let her go with someone who would ensure the care of this mare and not allow her to be rebreed.  Cindy, who must have had a baby tear her, became the focus of a family in Illinois who was in town during her operation which was performed at Dove Hill.  The family, whose daughter wanted to become a vet, viewed the entire operation, which was performed at Dove Hill by Dr. Ann Swartz and Dr. David Malone.  Rebecca, owner and founder of Dove Hill, had the first fund raiser at Lake David and managed to raise the moneys to have Cindy repaired.  Since the operation, Cindy still makes that noise but not as often.  She also has worked with the handicapped, trailed and has become quite loving.
